Welcome to Hiking World!

Hiking world has slowly morphed it’s way into a place where I would like to share information and allow others to do the same.  Over the next while, I will be adding many features to Hiking World, such as community boards, personal logging capabilities, etc….

I would really like to see this become a place where hikers, trekkers, kayakers, canoeists, and all outdoor adventurers across the world can share and learn from each other, so join us at The Trailhead and share or ask about whatever is on your mind. Much like the trail, this is meant to be a place of peace and being one with nature, so please, keep it cool.  I will be watching.

I have full intentions of doing many gear reviews and reviews of places I have been as well as share photos and videos of my various adventures.  If you have any suggestions as to what you would like to see added in order to make this a better community, please contact me.  I will always respond as soon as I can.  If I do not respond right away, please be patient as there is a good chance I am in the back country.

I really hope you enjoy the site and I look forward to hearing about some of your adventures!

Cheers,

Tom

Some of the greatest hiking I have done has been in the Himalaya’s.  The latest Himalayan trek was to Manaslu where we summited at a little over 17,000 feet.  This was definitely a tough but yet wondrous journey into some of the lands that many never get to experience.

Visiting towns along the way such as Samdo and being honored by the local townsfolk by having them invite us in for Butter Tea was utterly amazing. Many thanks to Tibetan Boy and his family.

Of course, anybody that knows me, knows that a conservancy that is near and dear to my heart is the Bruce Trail Conservancy.

The main Bruce Trail covers almost 900 km’s and the side trails I believe are currently equal to or larger than then main trail.

The Bruce Trail has some of Southern Ontario’s most beautiful and rugged trails.  If you are out this way, it is a must see.
