Well, the results are in and Canada has dominated again! Brady Leman took 1st place for the men’s and in the women’s, Fanny Smith took first and Marielle Thompson is back after a year of recovery with style taking 2nd place.
These athlete’s are simply a treat to watch with there speed, agility, and ability to fly over the jumps like it is an every day occurrence. As I stood there taking some photos and watching the elimination rounds, the air was electric with excitement. The crowd were revved up and the athletes were definitely feeling the excitement. Apart from a couple of spills, it was an accident free round for most of the athletes and they were ready to perform.
I was absolutely thrilled to see so many of the athletes using Elan skis similar to my own XTi 88’s. It made me realize that I wasn’t just imagining things when I thought my skis felt better than any other skis I have owned before. 🙂
I would like to extend a great big thank you to the staff at Blue Mountain who gave me the greatest gift they have ever given me by allowing me to take photos from within the media only section. Apparently my camera was big enough! lol
Here is a gallery of all the great photos I took while at the ski cross. They can also be viewed on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
The FIS World Cup Ski Cross is coming to Blue Mountain this year on the 25th and 26th of January. The last time I saw this event is was simply awesome and this year promises to be just as good. Here is a quick video of them building the track. I will continue to post pics and videos as the weekend progresses.
Here are a few preliminary runs from today, January 24th 2019. Looks like they are really getting ready to go out there. I will be heading up with my Canon EOS 6D this weekend to photograph and video the event. Two years ago I had the pleasure of being present when Marielle Thompson won the world cup. I hope to see Canada do as well this year. 🙂
Keep checking back as I will be updating this page as the event happens.
